About Dr. Ban

Dr. Ban was graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency (HAEMR) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in 2003. Since 2002, he has played a leadership role in the implementation of a regional emergency medicine project to build an educational infrastructure for over 900 emergency medicine physicians in Tuscany, Italy. Since 2006, he has led a regional initiative in Tuscany to develop the first pediatric trauma center and system in Italy. To date, the center has cared for more than 6,000 injured children. He has extensive experience in medical education, project innovation and medical system building.

Dr. Ban's main research interest is in the translation of evidence based and best medical practices into clinical care. Specifically, he is interested in developing and studying clinical implementation tools to be sure harmful care is avoided and useful care makes its way to the patients it was meant to serve.
