About Dr. Halamka:
Dr. Halamka is an internationally renown medical informatics expert. He is Chief Information Officer (CIO) of BIDMC, CIO of Harvard Medical School, and a co-Chair of the national HIT Standards Committee, and an Emergency Physician with an expertise in medical mycology. He created the initial ED Dashboard software and has written numerous other medical software programs. He regularly lectures and provides clinical consultations for mushroom poisoned patients.
As CIO of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, he is responsible for all clinical, financial, administrative and academic information technology serving 3000 doctors, 14000 employees and two million patients and as CIO for Harvard Medical School, he oversees all educational, research and administrative computing for 18000 faculty and 3000 students.
