The center's unified philosophy facilitates the provision of a full spectrum of care for both patients with common liver conditions and those who have complex medical or surgical needs. The Liver Center includes four sub-centers to facilitate communication among providers and ensure seamless patient care: the Center for Liver Failure; the Center for Liver Transplant; the Center for Liver Tumors; and the Center for Viral Hepatitis. All of the Liver Center's providers see patients in one dedicated location, which allows patients to access services and receive care in comfort and with ease.
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center also has established the first dedicated Liver Intensive Care Unit on the East Coast, where an integrated team of physicians and nurses care for patients with liver failure, those who are recovering from complex liver surgery and those who have undergone transplantation surgery. The Liver Intensive Care Unit is technically and professionally state-of-the-art.
