Community Connections
A message from leadership
The middle has a bad reputation. "Don't get in the middle," and "Start at the beginning, not in the middle" are conventional wisdom. But of course, sometimes conventional wisdom is just wrong. If you want to improve community health, sometimes you have to start in the middle. That is why forty years ago, in the middle of Roxbury, the former Beth Israel Hospital helped open and staff one of the nation's first community health centers. And it is why community health centers have remained central to our mission. In the middle of many neighborhoods around Boston, our affiliated health centers provide world-class care to patients of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. We are proud to play a part in their care.
