Fenway Community Health

Since 1971, Fenway Community Health has pioneered efforts to provide comprehensive, high-quality health care that is sensitive to the needs of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals and transgender individuals. Affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Fenway provides primary care and is internationally known for its work on HIV prevention, treatment and research. The health center is a leader in women's health, particularly understanding the unique needs of lesbians. The alternative insemination program and the family and parenting services for lesbians and gay men have helped empower the first generation of openly gay families. And the innovative acupuncture detoxification program has been widely studied and much imitated. Both the health center, located in Boston's Fenway area, and Russell & Harris of Fenway, in Boston's South End, serve those who live and work in the diverse multicultural neighborhoods, including students and seniors. At Fenway, medical care, mental health services, complementary therapies, education and support are integrated so providers are better able to care for the whole person. Specialty care includes: infectious disease, gynecology, psychiatry, gerontology, nutrition and podiatry.
