Community Health Programs
Bowdoin Street Health Center is committed to not just provide for an individual's health but to partner with residents to improve the health of the entire community. The health center's community health initiatives focus on issues such as community organizing and development, environmental justice, violence prevention, open space and economic development. The Department is staffed by community outreach workers who work with community residents and community-based agencies to identify common issues and develop programs to address those needs. There is a long history of the health center playing an integral role in the delivery of public health and safety programs in the Bowdoin/Geneva neighborhood. There has been extensive involvement in building partnerships and coalitions and working with residents, businesses, community-based organizations, faith-based organizations, social service agencies and public agencies in these efforts.
