Bowdoin Street Health Center Nears Completion of its ADA upgrade
It's been almost 2 years since the clinic began upgrading its facility to accommodate people with disabilities and we are just a couple months away from completion. Some upgrades include: improved access in our parking lot and front entrance, restroom upgrades for easier access with wheelchairs, re-design of registration and the addition of fire alarm strobes in exam rooms. Our final stage of the project includes new signage that improves access for visitors who are visually impaired. All exam room and office signs will now be equipped with tactile lettering as well as Braille.
Once completed, the health center will be the first of many buildings to be 100% compliant with the new Americans with Disabilities Act standards. Gary Bernard, our Facility Manager considers the project a success and is quite pleased with the final product. "Whenever we can upgrade our facilities to insure our patients, staff, and physicians have easier and more accommodating access, it's a great feeling of accomplishment".
