OWL on the Road

The Optimal Weight for Life (OWL) Program at Children’s Hospital has made its way to Bowdoin Street! The rates of overweight, obesity and the associated risks of type-II diabetes and asthma amongst children have increased dramatically over the past two decades. The OWL Program at Children’s Hospital has responded to this health crisis by bringing its multidisciplinary approach and expertise for treating overweight, obesity, and associated risks to our community.

This outreach, OWL on the Road (OOTR), has an experienced team which includes a physician, nurse practitioner, registered dietician and a psychologist. Together, this team provides a healthy plan for patients, which incorporates all aspects of becoming healthier through physical activity, healthy food choices and emotional support. Patients are referred to this program, free of charge, by care providers at Bowdoin Street Health Center.
