That Old Cape Magic

A remarkable 212 current major league baseball players got their start in the Cape Cod Baseball League, where bats have been swinging from Bourne to Orleans since 1885. Alumni include Red Sox players Jacoby Ellsbury, Mike Lowell, Jason Varitek and Kevin Youkilis.

This year, the League's sponsorship lineup includes the CardioVascular Institute (CVI) and its Hyannis affiliate, Cardiovascular Consultants of Cape Cod, which jointly have been named "Official Cardiovascular Care Provider of the Cape Cod Baseball League." Kids Walk for Health in Boston

Again this year, the CVI is sponsoring the BIDMC Walking Club, which launched its annual it's-spring-so-get-off-the-couch campaign on May 4, with 30 health-conscious seventh graders from the Eliot School in Boston's North End.

After a pep talk from CVI cardiologist Dr. Loryn Feinberg, the pedometer-toting kids walked 1.5 miles on the Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Downloadable walking kits for buff-to-be individuals, schools and companies are free from the BIDMC Walking Club.

CVI-Needham Welcomes New Docs

Two cardiologists will join the CVI-Needham staff this summer. Both welcome new patients. To make an appointment, call 781-453-5238.

Francesca Nesta Delling, MD , recently completed a clinical fellowship at BIDMC after an internship and residence at Boston University Medical Center, along with other internships and fellowships in her native Italy and the United States.

Airley E. Fish, MD, recently completed a clinical fellowship at BIDMC after an internship and residency at Tufts University Medical School.
