Support Services
Oncology social workers offer an array of programs and support groups, counseling and a community resource specialist to help with lodging, transportation, insurance coverage and transition to community-based services.
Our specialty programs include:
- Patient Navigator, connecting patients referred from community-based organizations with special medical center advocates to make care more easily accessible.
- Patient-to-Patient, Heart-to-Heart, a peer support program matching newly diagnosed patients with survivors.
- “Celebration of Life,” an annual Boston-wide, BIDMC-sponsored event for those touched by cancer.
- Windows of Hope, a specialty shop at BIDMC offering products and resources such as wigs, prostheses, books and CDs.
- Interpreter services to include more than 30 languages plus signing, to help people feel more comfortable and at home.
For patient convenience, we have also included links to helpful sites with more information about cancer care and research.
