Our Specialty Programs
Each Cancer Center program at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) includes a team of specialists across all departments that specialize in the diagnosis or treatment of cancer including medical, surgical and radiation oncology, pathology, nursing, ancillary services and social work. At weekly team conferences, BIDMC's distinguished cancer physicians, together with leading scientists, gather to discuss new and difficult cases, determine treatment recommendations, and present research results.
In our multidisciplinary clinics, our patients see all key specialists in one visit for easy access, coordinated treatment planning, and peace of mind. Our patients know they are receiving not only the most appropriate care plan – arrived at by a team of leading clinicians – but the most advanced care, drawing on the medical center’s vast clinical resources and clinical trial opportunities.
Treatment may involve radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgery, imaging, pathology, and primary care. Our patients can also access a wealth of support services such as pain management, counseling, and coordinated palliative care to help ease the physical and emotional complications of this grave disease.
The BIDMC Cancer Center offers the best of both worlds. We are large enough to attract nationally known oncologists, researchers and pathologists to our staff. And we are just the right size to encourage close collaboration and teamwork, as well as respond to the individual needs and wishes of our patients and families.
