Weight Loss Surgery Information Sessions

What to Expect During Bariatric Surgery

Information Sessions

A Weight Loss Surgery Information Session will provide you with some highlights of BIDMC's bariatric surgery program and reliable information on weight loss surgery. The session includes a comprehensive presentation on the Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band (LAP-BAND®), RNY Gastric Bypass, and Gastric Sleeve procedures by one of our bariatric surgeons. We require that you attend one of these free sessions prior to your first appointment.

Post-op Support Groups

Post-op Support Groups are a chance for post-operative patients to gather, share experiences, get ideas, and most of all gain support from peers. Support groups are an excellent opportunity to talk about your frustrations, victories and challenges after WLS. Attending the meetings are highly recommended, and can be helpful for both someone one month out of surgery or five years out of surgery. Come prepared with questions and be willing to participate. Communication and openness are the keys to this group's success.

In cases of inclement weather, cancellations will align with those of the Boston Public School system. You may also call the office at 617-667-2845 to confirm whether an information session or post-op support group has been canceled.
