Neuroradiology is a radiology specialty that images the nervous system, spine, head and neck. BIDMC offers comprehensive neuroradiology imaging which includes: CT, MRI, Interventional Neuroangiography, plain film X-rays, PET scans and 3-D imaging.

Neuroradiology can assist in the diagnosis of vascular abnormalities (such as tumors, aneurysm, or stroke), as well as treat abnormalities by using stents and coils, such brain aneurysms. Diagnosis and treatment of spinal pain and other spinal disorders is performed with myelography, nerve blocks, injections and other minimally invasive procedures.

Minimally invasive neuroradiography procedures require small incisions for needles and catheters, thereby eliminating or reducing the need for surgical procedures that would require large incisions and recovery time.

If a neuroradiology exam has been ordered for you, your physician will explain the test, discuss any specific preparation, and answer any questions you may have.
