Enterostomal Therapy Clinic
The Enterostomal Therapy Clinic provides multi-modality consultation for the acute and rehabilitative care of individuals with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems. The clinic also provides assistance in assessing and recommending ways to manage fistula/wound care, dermal ulcer care and skin breakdown associated with urinary and/or fecal incontinence. For the patient who has or may need the creation of an ostomy, the following are available:
- preoperative teaching and stoma site selections
- postoperative assessment of the stoma and peristomal skin
- evaluation of the effectiveness of the pouching system used
- postoperative counseling in adjusting to living with an ostomy, including dietary, sexual and vocational issues
- evaluation and treatment of stoma and peristomal skin complications
- obtaining sterile catheterized samples from urostomy patients
Patients Appropriate for Referral:
Patients with select disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and integumentary systems.
