Dr. SchermerhornWhen you join the BIDMC team, you will have the satisfaction of supporting a great cause and an organization that each year provides BIDMC researchers with more than $3 million in research grants. You will receive a free T-shirt and can also compete for prizes in our annual team captains' and individual walkers' fundraising competitions.

The Heart Walk is one, three or six miles along the beautiful Charles River Esplanade. There is no fundraising minimum, but we ask every BIDMC team member to raise or give at least one donation of any amount.

Marc Schermerhorn, MD (right), Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Cardiovascular Institute, is leading the campaign to raise at least $45,000 this year.

Award-Winning Team

In 2016, the BIDMC team raised $47,000, exceeding its $40,000 goal and winning the Top Hospital trophy for the fourth year in a row. The trophy is awarded to the hospital that raises the most money in the Boston Heart Walk each year. Let's win it for the fifth time!

Call for Captains

The leadership of our captains is the reason for our team's success. Captains recruit walkers from their co-workers, families and friends and help publicize the event. We encourage you to find one or two co-captains: joining forces is less work and more fun! If you would like to be a captain this year, please contact Margaret Pantridge, Cortez Pickens or Bonnie Prescott.
