Liver Tumor Clinic
Hotline: 1-877-LIVER-90
Most liver tumors are not cancerous. But those that are can be fatal. In fact, while all other forms of cancer have shown a decrease in mortality, hepatocellular (liver) cancer mortality continues to rise.
What is clear is this: the sooner the cancer is detected and treated properly, the better the outcome. That's why Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center has created one of the only truly multidisciplinary, rapid-access liver tumor clinics in the world.
Each week, about 20 specialists-hepatologists, oncologists, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists and others-gather to discuss challenging cases and talk about the best course of treatment. Depending on whether a tumor is benign or cancerous, treatment may range from surgical resection or local ablation to transplantation or cyberknife radiotherapy. Patients and families have the peace of mind knowing some of the most experienced experts in the field have weighed in on the case, giving the best chance of a successful outcome.
Patients or referring physicians who have patients with liver tumors are urged to call our hotline. While it can take weeks to be seen by a liver specialist at other programs, callers to our hotline will be seen by one of our specialists quickly, in many cases. within a week.
We believe in urgent, comprehensive and expert care of liver tumors. Call 1-877-LIVER-90 today for an appointment.
