Breast Reconstruction

For breast cancer patients undergoing mastectomy, the BreastCare Center at BIDMC offers many options for breast reconstruction, if desired, including breast implants and advanced muscle-sparing procedures that use the patient's own abdominal, buttock or other tissue. Breast reconstruction surgery can often take place at the same time as mastectomy.

Our breast and plastic surgeons help patients make the best choice for reconstruction based on their medical history and personal preferences. The BreastCare Center's plastic surgeons are leaders in developing new reconstructive techniques and in researching patient outcomes and satisfaction.
