Finding a Clinical Trial

  There may well be a time (or times) during your cancer experience that you are wondering about participating in a clinical trial. If you receive your care at BIDMC or another academic medical center, this is an option that your doctors will likely present when it seems appropriate. Trials are not just for people nearing the end of life. There are clinical trials for newly diagnosed patients, for people who continue on treatment, and, yes, for people who are very ill.

If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, a good first step is to talk with your doctor. New clinical trials are being created constantly. There are a number of organizations that list open clinical trials. This helps people interested in joining a trial find one that may be appropriate for them. Remember to talk with your doctor for more information about any of the clinical trials you find.
