What do you think ultimately made you choose BIDMC?
There were several factors that were appealing to me when I first came here and they've only gotten better...keeping me coming back every week since 1992! This medical center has always been on the cutting-edge with its technological know-how and up-to-date equipment. The pay scale was at the top of the list for Boston area hospitals and it remains there. The benefits were top-notch and have remained competitive with other area hospitals. And the other people around me were friendly and welcoming. Some long-term friendships have evolved from this as well.
Of the reasons you chose your profession, which are accentuated by working at BIDMC?
The technology at this facility is unsurpassed. We have the latest in D.R. (Digital Radiography) rooms, C.R. (Computed Radiography) equipment, and a P.A.C.S. system that allows computerized storage for all images from all modalities. And we are always kept highly informed of any upgrades and improvements made.
What do you find most rewarding about your work that is unique to BIDMC?
I find very rewarding the fact that the patients that I come in contact with over the course of my workday are getting the highest quality, most efficient care that they can possibly get. This is not just because of the advanced equipment that this Radiology Department has, but because of all the support that surrounds me. From management and my supervisors, the clerical staff, and my fellow technologists, to the doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel. These people help me to do my duties to the best of my ability. This is because of one thing - teamwork - and it thrives in this facility.
Generally speaking, can you describe your ideal workday?
An ideal day would be one in which I was able to give each and every one of the patients that I see the most efficient high quality care they deserve within a friendly, cooperating informative, caring environment. BIDMC possesses both the technology and the teamwork to make this "ideal" day a reality every day.
