Nursing Care at BIDMC
BIDMC has long been recognized as a national leader for Professional Nursing. Our nurses truly believe they are privileged to practice in an organization that has drawn on a rich and powerful heritage from each of its founding member hospitals (Beth Israel Hospital and New England Deaconess Hospital). BIDMC nurses remain the heart and soul of patient care delivery.
We are dedicated to providing compassionate care and meeting whatever needs you and your family may have. That's why our nursing staff participate in a program called "We Promise." Here is our commitment to every patient:
We Promise to:
- See you every hour
- Respond to your needs
- Let you know what to expect
- Ensure a healing environment
These key elements create a good patient experience. Quality care and patient safety are our most important goals.
Well over 90 percent of nurses at BIDMC are prepared at the Bachelor's or advanced degree level. The BIDMC nursing tradition includes being an early leader in the development of Primary Nursing, professional nurse advancement programs, and the development of a robust Nursing Shared Governance program, which means involving all nurses in decision-making. BIDMC is widely known as an environment which respects and values professional nursing and where nurses, in turn, value the opportunity to work together with physicians and other clinical colleagues.
