Volunter Services
Welcome to Volunteer Services!
Volunteers are an integral part of the BIDMC community. Our department offers volunteer opportunities in both clinical and non-clinical settings in over 50 different departments throughout the medical center.
To apply you must be at least 14 years old. The minimum number of hours of service required in order to volunteer is a total of 40 hours (example: 4 hours, once a week for 10 weeks). Most positions involving patient contact require a 6-12 month commitment. We are fortunate to have a large cadre of volunteers who donate thousands of hours in time and talent to BIDMC annually. We would be delighted to meet you and see if we can make a match for you to join our team.
If you are interested in taking the next step, please contact the Volunteer Services Program Coordinator Terry Morgan, tmorgan2@bidmc.harvard.edu for an application. The application should be returned to us with two letters of recommendation on letterhead from teachers, employers, counselors, pastors, rabbis or other professionals. The letters should not be from a friend or relative. Upon its receipt the program coordinator will call you to schedule an appointment with the Volunteer Services Director Stephanie Harriston-Diggs . Volunteer options will be discussed at that appointment
Thank you for your interest in our medical center!
