Wellness Programs

At Tanger Be Well we try to provide a variety of ways for BIDMC’s employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We do this by providing a fitness facility, access to exercise physiologists, health educators and dieticians, educational series and seminars, and much more.

Educational Seminars

Our educational series are generally between 4-6 weeks with meetings one time per week most often at noon. They cost between $100-$200 and include a 6-week membership to Tanger Be Well (a $70 value). Registration and payment is due prior to the first class. We require at least 6 participants to keep the class running.

EAT WELL

This innovative 6-week weight management program is led by registered dietitians and exercise physiologists from Tanger Be Well. The program combines nutrition and education in effort to provide effective tools for lifelong weight management.

What does the program include?

  •  Blood pressure
  •  Waist to hip ratio
  •  Individualized meal plan and exercise program
  •  Weekly weigh-ins
  •  A detailed take home manual
  •  A healthy snack of the week learning about the psychology

  • Keeping an accurate food diary
  • Controlling portion sizes
  • Making sense of fad diets
  • Setting up a personal exercise program
  • Exercising safely

PRESSURE POINT!

This is a comprehensive stress management and prevention series is led by health educators and exercise physiologists from Tanger Be Well. The program seeks to identify the reason for stress and begin treating it from a personal perspective. Participants will walk away with effective strategies to manage and even prevent stress.

GOING FORWARD

Going Forward is an innovative program that is specifically designed for cancer survivors. Our program provides participants with the tools necessary to successfully implement a nutrition, exercise and stress management program to improve overall health. Going Forward is led by a registered dietitian and exercise physiologists who will present the most up-to-date scientifically based information, as well as tackle lifestyle and behavioral changes important for cancer survivors.

PROSTATE CANCER WELLNESS PROGRAM

HEALTHY PREGNANCY

These drop-in sessions are one hour on various days throughout the year. We talk about healthy eating, exercising, stress, and overall coping with pregnancy. This program is taught by a parent educator and is provided to any employee/patient for a small fee. All participants will be given a folder with information, activities, and resources. Keep your eye on the portal for upcoming dates and topics.


LUNCH & LEARN'S

These are one hour workshops that are held at lunch time for all employees. They are free and we encourage you to bring your lunch and a friend. Topics vary and they are led by exercise physiologists, health educators, doctors, dieticians, etc. Some of the titles include:
