Affiliates and Partnerships

In the pursuit of clinical and research excellence, BIDMC has formed partnerships with other outstanding institutions to benefit our patients and the community. These partners include:

Clinical

Advanced Vascular Care Center – Dialysis patients receive prompt care for vascular access complications at this dedicated ambulatory facility in Brighton, staffed by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from BIDMC.

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham (BID-Needham) – This independently licensed acute care hospital in Needham is directly affiliated with BIDMC. The hospital provides care to patients in communities west of Boston. Critical hospital-based services are provided by the medical staff at BID-Needham, many of whom are also Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from BIDMC.

Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Care at Beverly Hospital – North Shore residents can access enhanced multi-specialty cancer care in Beverly as the result of collaboration between BIDMC and Northeast Health Systems (Beverly Hospital and Addison Gilbert Hospital). Patients are referred seamlessly to BIDMC for additional treatment options when they are not available in the local community.

CardioVascular Institute Network – The CardioVascular Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (CVI) has assembled a regional network of heart and vascular physicians to deliver outstanding outcomes and service to patients throughout Eastern and Central Massachusetts. The CVI network includes 35 physicians in 12 practices at 16 locations.

Children’s Hospital Boston – Our clinicians collaborate on the specialized care of high-risk pregnancies and births, and care of adults with congenital heart disease.

Commonwealth Atrius Cancer Center – South Shore cancer patients now have the added benefit of an affiliation between Commonwealth Atrius Cancer Center (CACC) and BIDMC. Beth Israel Deaconess cancer physicians provide on-site physician-to-physician consultations and patients have ready access to BIDMC specialty cancer services when needed. CACC, a collaboration between Commonwealth Hematology-Oncology (CHO) and Atrius Health, is located at the Weymouth Woods Medical Center.

Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) – BIDMC and six other Harvard-affiliated institutions have joined forces to create the largest comprehensive cancer center in the world. Funded by a grant from the National Cancer Institute, the DF/HCC consists of more than 1,000 researchers with a singular goal – to find new and innovative ways to combat cancer.

Harrington Memorial Hospital – Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provide readings for diagnostic imaging studies performed in Harrington Memorial Hospital’s Radiology Department.

Joslin Clinic – A joint venture of BIDMC and Joslin Clinic fosters collaboration between physicians from the two institutions who work together to provide the best care and prevention of diabetes and its complications, focusing on cardiovascular disease, vascular surgery and foot care, visual impairment, kidney and pancreas dysfunction, obesity and diabetes related to pregnancy.

MetroWest Medical Center – Longstanding clinical collaborations between MWMC and BIDMC provide local residents with the best cancer, heart and vascular care. When advanced care is needed, patients are seamlessly referred to BIDMC.

Milton Hospital – The affiliation between Milton Hospital and BIDMC has resulted in the development or expansion of clinical programs on the South Shore: brachytherapy for prostate cancer; cardiovascular care; foot, ankle and hand surgery; gerontology; gynecology; hospitalist services; podiatry; and primary care. In the Emergency Department, Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from BIDMC provide care and a cardiac rapid transport service seamlessly transfers patients to BIDMC’s cardiac catheterization lab.

Nashoba Valley Medical Center – Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians from BIDMC provide emergency care at Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Cardiologists at the CardioVascular Institute at BIDMC-Nashoba on the Nashoba campus provide area residents with the full range of heart care services.

Saint Vincent Hospital – As a result of the strong clinical and academic ties between Saint Vincent Hospital, BIDMC and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC, Cardiac surgery at Saint Vincent is performed by surgeons from The CardioVascular Institute at BIDMC. Radiation oncology services and emergency medicine services are provided by Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at BIDMC. Surgical residents from Beth Israel Deaconess perform rotations at Saint Vincent.

Non-clinical

Boston Red Sox - In 2003, BIDMC was selected as the official hospital of the Boston Red Sox. Not only are Fenway Park and the medical center neighbors, but BIDMC is also proud to provide first-aid care at every home game at Fenway. We also work with the home team and the Red Sox Foundation on a variety of health center and community programs.

Together, we support and mentor the “Red Sox Scholars,” a group of 25 middle school students chosen each year to receive a $10,000 college scholarship and visit BIDMC to learn about careers in medicine and research. It’s just one of the many ways the Boston Red Sox and BIDMC are honoring our commitment to the communities and families we both serve.
