Physician Groups at BIDMC
Our medical staff includes the following major physician groups.
Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is the employed physician group at BIDMC. HMFP employs approximately 900 Harvard Medical School faculty members, and has an exclusive affiliation agreement with BIDMC for research, teaching and patient care services. Each of BIDMC's 13 Departments has an HMFP Department Head who is the "Chief of Service." HMFP provides comprehensive practice management services (e.g., benefits, payroll and accounting) to the BIDMC faculty members.
Beth Israel Deaconess HealthCare (BIDHC) is a network of more than 150 primary care physicians and specialists in 33 practice locations conveniently located across Greater Boston, and much of eastern Massachusetts. These practices, legally incorporated as Affiliated Physicians Group (APG), are affiliated with BIDMC in Boston, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton, and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham and Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. As a result, of recently expanded relationships with Anna Jaques Hospital and Lawrence General Hospital, new primary care practices jointly developed with BIDMC will open in 2015 in several communities north of Boston in the Merrimack Valley and southern NH regions.
Additionally, the Extended Care Community Program (ECCP) offers post-acute care services for patients at skilled nursing facilities throughout the greater Boston region.
HealthCare Associates (HCA) is BIDMC's hospital-based primary care practice. HCA sees more than 41,000 patients annually in two office locations in the Shapiro Clinical Center at BIDMC.
