The Boston Red Sox - Since 2003, BIDMC has been the official hospital of the Boston Red Sox and
Red Sox Nation, and is proud to provide first-aid care at every home game and special event at Fenway Park. BIDMC also works with the organization and the Red Sox Foundation on a variety of community programs. The Red Sox have won two World Series during BIDMC's tenure as their official hospital.
In addition to taking such excellent care of the fans, BIDMC and the Red Sox work together to
sponsor community programs such as the 9/11 Blood Drive with the American Red Cross and the
Red Sox Scholars program.
As the official hospital of the Boston Red Sox, our newborns are all
Red Sox babies! BIDMC's name is displayed throughout Fenway Park while photos of babies born at BIDMC are featured on the jumbotron, wearing the official baby hat of the Red Sox.
Shuttle buses for patients, visitors and staff proudly display the
Red Sox affiliation. Banners about the relationship periodically adorn the medical center and Fenway area.
As the Official Hospital of the Boston Red Sox and Red Sox Nation, BIDMC provides
weekly educational reports explaining the cause, treatment and prevention of
sports-related injuries on the Red Sox website. Written by veteran Boston sports journalist Gary Gillis, the articles feature interviews with BIDMC experts.
BIDMC can often be found on the field at Fenway several times a year when our all-star physicians are honored as "Medical All-Stars" and throw out the first pitch. In addition, each year 40 members of the BIDMC staff get to play softball on the Red Sox outfield as they fulfill their Fenway Fantasy.
